The San Francisco 49ers announced on Thursday they have signed quarterback Thad Lewis to a one-year deal.
Lewis (6-2, 200) originally signed with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent on April 25, 2010. He spent the majority of his rookie season on the Rams practice squad, was later waived by the team on Sept. 3, 2011, and claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns the following day. After spending the 2011 and 2012 seasons with the Browns, Lewis was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions on May 28, 2013 and later traded to the Buffalo Bills on Aug.
