49ers sign linebacker David Mayo, bolstering special teams and depth

While linebacker Kwon Alexander and running back Tevin Coleman highlighted the San Francsico 49ers‘ moves in NFL free agency, the Niners also are bringing aboard veteran linebacker David Mayo.

This, as was reported by 49ers.com’s Joe Fann on Thursday afternoon.

Mayo, 25 years old, was initially drafted in Round 5 of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers and spent his first four seasons at the pro level serving as a backup and core special teams player.

Pro Football Focus gave Mayo a 50.
