Within a week, Jimmy Garoppolo signed a five-year extension to become the NFL’s highest-paid player and a player for whom he campaigned also got paid.
The 49ers announced Wednesday a three-year contract extension for center Daniel Kilgore, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next month.
Kilgore, 30, a seven-year veteran was named as the winner of the Bobb McKittrick Award for best exemplifying the dedication, excellence and commitment of the long-time 49ers offensive line coach. McKittrick, who served 21 seasons as a 49ers assistant, died in 2000.
Garoppolo made a pitch for the 49ers to re-sign Kilgore while speaking with reporters the day after the season ended.
