The 49ers have filled the opening on their 10-man practice squad by signing safety Vinnie Sunseri, a 2014 fifth-round pick of the Saints who spent time on the Patriots’ practice squad this season.
Sunseri (6-0, 210) has an extensive recent injury history. His 14-start career at Alabama ended with a torn ACL; he was placed on injured reserve with a broken arm after a nine-game rookie season and spent 2015 on IR with a knee injury.
He was released by the Saints in April and spent training camp with the Patriots. He spent the season on New England’s practice squad before he was released Oct.
