The 49ers on Wednesday announced the signing of veteran linebacker Korey Toomer to a one-year contract.
Toomer, who started eight games each of the past two seasons with the Chargers, joins a group of 49ers inside linebackers that includes Reuben Foster, Brock Coyle and Malcolm Smith.
"We’re excited to add a talented player like Korey to our defensive unit," 49ers general manager John Lynch said in a statement. "Korey is a good fit for the 'stack linebacker' position in our scheme and he provides our team another good football player with plenty of NFL experience in similar systems.
