The 49ers have signed defensive lineman Tony McDaniel, 32, two days after Arik Armstead sustained a broken hand that is expected to land him on injured reserve, McDaniel’s agent said, via Twitter.
McDaniel is a 12-year veteran who has made 48 starts in a four-team career that includes 160 tackles and 11.5 sacks. Last year, he made 10 starts and had 43 tackles in his second stint with the Seahawks.
On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged the 49ers’ had depth issues along their defensive line. Defensive end Aaron Lynch (calf) was also sidelined in a 26-24 loss at Washington on Sunday.
