After recovering from an early 10-point deficit, the San Francisco 49ers played the majority of tonight’s contest with a small lead over the Green Bay Packers, which Niners kicker Robbie Gould extended to seven points late in the game.
Unfortunately for the 49ers, they played “not to lose” over the second half of the game, which — as expected — is exactly what they ended up doing. Instead of going for the jugular, San Francisco gave Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers one too many opportunities, and eventually the star quarterback delivered.
Rodgers targeted his top wide receiver Davante Adams throughout the evening, but he zeroed in on Adams in the final minutes of the game, once he realized his favorite receiver was being covered by 49ers backup cornerback Greg Mabin.
