The Washington Redskins are going to be looking for a linebacker, and the San Francisco 49ers have an excess one in the veteran, Malcolm Smith.
Washington just lost one of its recent pickups, former Niners linebacker Reuben Foster, to a season-ending ACL tear and will be out for the remainder of 2018. Foster’s story — from being selected by San Francisco in Round 1 of the 2017 NFL Draft, injuries, his legal battles during the 2018 offseason and finally being released by the 49ers in November of last year — is certainly controversial, to say the least.
