The San Francisco 49ers went offensive line, but it’s not with a player you may expect. The 49ers selected Mike McGlinchey with the ninth overall pick.
McGlinchey provides some tackle depth at worst and is the heir apparent to Joe Staley at best. For 2018, the 49ers may kick him into the guard position to give him some starting experience with capability to fill in at offensive tackle if need be, but his size could make that difficult. He’s arguably the best tackle in this year’s draft and a big kid at that standing 6’8 and weighing 304 pounds.
