The 49ers allowed a 100-yard rusher for the fourth straight game for the first time since at least 1960, as Arizona’s David Johnson topped the mark in San Francisco’s 33-21 loss Thursday night at Levi’s Stadium.
Johnson (27 carries, 157 yards) became the latest to reach the century mark on a 23-yard run with just less than 10 minutes left in the third quarter. The 49ers entered the game having allowed three straight 100-yard rushers for the first time since 2004.
According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, which has full box scores dating to 1960, the 49ers hadn’t allowed 100-yard rushers in four consecutive games in their previous 56 seasons.
