ATHERTON — Jack Heneghan is coming home.
After four years as an Ivy League quarterback at Dartmouth, the 22-year-old is returning to his roots to join the San Francisco 49ers for this weekend’s rookie minicamp.
News that the 6-foot-4, 230-pound product out of Menlo School in Atherton inked a deal as an undrafted free agent wasn’t announced until Monday afternoon, though his inner circle found out Saturday after the NFL Draft.
“I saw people go off the board and I was hoping that I was going to get a call,” said Heneghan, who began to hear from a couple of NFL teams near the end of the seventh round, including 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello.
