Another combine, another Wonderlic controversy.
The Wonderlic is a cognitive test — math, vocabulary, and reasoning — given to prospective NFL quarterbacks. It seems every year that a player or two, or three, or four seem to tank.
Error 0:
Quarterbacks’ Wonderlic scores are scrutinized — guessing here — likely because they process more information, faster, than players at other positions. And there is more leeway for a coach or scout to inject his opinion of a quarterback. Running backs run the 40. Offensive linemen lift weights. The Wonderlic is subjective. It doesn’t quantify arm strength or accuracy.
