SANTA CLARA — As 37 teammates from the 49ers’ first Super Bowl-winning team of 1981 poured into Levi’s Stadium on Sunday to honor Dwight Clark, former team president Carmen Policy put in perspective Clark’s drawing power.
“Dwight just brings everybody together,” Policy said before Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Clark, 60, is battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. His frail state has sent him into a wheelchair. But, on Sunday, his former teammates are celebrating all he’s meant to them and the franchise he sparked a dynasty with his NFC Championship-winning “Catch” against the Dallas Cowboys.
