At least there was Wednesday when the 49ers reported to training camp, were asked about high expectations for the upcoming season and tried to erase the outside optimism by saying … hey, this team stunk last year.
“It was a 6-10 team,” said cornerback Richard Sherman, “that didn’t make the playoffs.”
Said left tackle Joe Staley: “We were a 6-10 football team at the end of the year last year.
