The San Francisco 49ers have worked out free agent linebackers Sean Spence and Donald Butler on Tuesday, according to Field Yates of ESPN. The workouts in the wake of first-round pick Reuben Foster’s high ankle sprain.
There is no timetable on Foster’s injury, and the 49ers have only said that it’s not as serious as it first appeared. A high ankle sprain can vary wildly in recovery time, so there are few surprises when it comes to Foster. He could miss a game, or he could miss five games. I’m not an injury expert, but that’s typically how it goes.
