In the aftermath of linebacker De’Vondre Campbell’s shocking decision to walk out of the 49ers’ Thursday night game, San Francisco is reportedly looking to punish him to the fullest extent possible.
Although some have clamored for his immediate firing, multiple NFL insiders reported Sunday that the 49ers are hoping to suspend Campbell instead. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the team is “likely to suspend Campbell rather than just release him,” which could allow the 49ers to
“claw back some of his $3.35 million signing bonus” and prevent him from being signed by another team off waivers.
