SANTA CLARA — Marquise Goodwin’s durability issues have flared up again, and maybe a full-time role isn’t in his future with the 49ers.
A calf contusion and lingering Achilles issue will keep Goodwin off the 49ers practice field Wednesday. It’s the latest setback of a “very inconsistent” season, as described by coach Kyle Shanahan.
“It’s tough to be consistent when you’re not healthy, and we’re dealing with that this week, too,” Shanahan said. “Hopefully he’ll be more fortunate with that stuff next year.”
