The San Francisco 49ers are releasing DL Quinton Dial as they trim their roster down to the 53-man limit.
Dial, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was entering the second year of a four-year, $12.675 million contract that included $5.3 million guaranteed and another $4 million through incentives. He was set to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season.
In 2016, Dial appeared in 14 games for the 49ers and recorded 36 tackles and two pass defenses.
