The San Francisco 49ers claimed defensive end Xavier Cooper off waivers, and it appears they have found an option to clear roster space. Chicago Bears beat writer Brad Biggs is reporting the team has released tight end Logan Paulsen.
The 49ers signed Paulsen to a one-year contract this offseason, giving him a $125,000 signing bonus and a roster bonus of $100,000. He worked with Kyle Shanahan in Washington, and seemed to be the guy who would be the primary blocking tight end.
The decision to release him does not mean Paulsen is finished with the 49ers.
