The San Francisco 49ers have released offensive tackle Garry Gilliam. The team made the announcement Wednesday.
Gilliam was signed to the team in 2017 and saw action both years, getting just one start in his two-year stint. Total, Gilliam appeared in 24 games.
“We would like to thank Garry for his contributions to the team the last two seasons. He filled in admirably when called upon and was a consummate teammate. We wish him and his family all the best.”
The cut may have been a money issue. Per Over the Cap, Gilliam was due an estimated $5 million in 2019 if he was cut before June 1st.
