A day after the 49ers pledged $1 million to two Bay Area foundations to improve racial and economic inequities, safety Eric Reid said he viewed it as a strong show of support for the national-anthem stance he’s taken with quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Last week, Reid joined Kaepernick and knelt for the national anthem before the preseason finale in San Diego. The players are aiming to shed light on issues such as racial inequality. The team’s pledge came a week after Kaepernick said he would donate the first $1 million he earned this season to underserved communities.
