The San Francisco 49ers have re-signed tight end Logan Thomas, the team announced on Thursday.
In a corresponding move, the team waived Tayler Hawkins with an injury designation.
Thomas, 33, was released by the team two weeks ago with an injury designation, as the tight end had suffered a hamstring issue earlier in camp.
A former quarterback who converted to a pass catcher, Thomas had 55 catches for 496 yards and four touchdowns with the Washington Commanders last offseason.
After electing to not sign a deal early in the offseason, he reached an agreement with the 49ers right before training camp, but didn’t see much action before suffering the hamstring injury that led to his initial departure.
