Bringing back Hyder is a solid move for the Niners. The veteran defensive lineman has the ability to play inside or outside, versatility the 49ers covet.
Hyder’s best work has come under the tutelage of San Francisco defensive line coach Kris Kocurek. While together in Detroit, Hyder posted eight sacks in 2016. He then struggled after moving on in free agency. Reunited in 2020, Hyder replaced an injured Nick Bosa in the 49ers lineup an finished with a career high 8.5 sacks.
After spending a season in Seattle, Hyder returned to San Francisco last season. The veteran finished with one sack to go along with a career high three passes defensed.
