49ers RB Hyde won’t lack for offseason fuel

Running back Carlos Hyde located a silver lining to ending the season with a knee injury and 988 rushing yards: He won’t lack for offseason fuel.

“It sucks not being able to get that 1,000 yards, coming up 12 yards shy,” Hyde said. “It’s more motivation going into this offseason to really grind hard and get ready for 2017.”

Hyde’s offseason could include more financial security. He is one of the few dynamic players on the NFL’s 29th-ranked offense and he will be eligible for a contract extension for the first time in his three-year career.
