SANTA CLARA -- With Vance McDonald iffy for Sunday's game with a hip injury, the 49ers on Saturday promoted another tight end, Je'Ron Hamm, from the practice squad.
To make room on the roster, the team released running back DuJuan Harris, who either has been inactive or not on the roster for the first three weeks of the season.
The 49ers now have four tight ends on the roster: Hamm, McDonald, Garrett Celek and Blake Bell.
Celek (back) and McDonald are both listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Celek, however, appeared further along than McDonald, who sat out Tuesday's and Wednesday's practices.
