San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch announced on Thursday that the organization has made a move in the personnel department. Senior personnel executive Martin Mayhew as been promoted to the role of Vice President of Player Personnel. It’s the same job title as Adam Peters, but Lynch said they have different responsibilities.
Lynch did not get into specifics of the roles, but he did tell the assembled media that Peters’ focus will be pro personnel and Mayhew’s focus will be on the college scouting side. Given Mayhew’s extensive experience across the board, I imagine he can still serve as a sounding board on pro matters.
