SANTA CLARA — C.J. Beathard’s wrist injury won’t keep him out of today’s game when the 49ers host the Raiders, although it’s unknown whether he or Nick Mullens will start at quarterback.
Those will be the 49ers only options at quarterback as the club released Tom Savage, who’s been on and off the roster the last couple weeks as a No. 3 quarterback.
Beathard’s status looked bleak as he came out of Sunday’s 18-15 loss at Arizona with injuries to his right wrist and thumb, not to mention the bridge of his nose and forehead. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday that Beathard would be a game-time decision, and that mystery now only revolves around whether he’d get a chance to improve upon his 0-5 record as the starter this season since Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury.
