Reuben Foster will not be in uniform Sunday, the fifth straight game he has missed since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 1.
Foster’s return, even in a limited capacity, was anticipated after he returned to practice Wednesday and especially after the team released linebacker NaVorro Bowman on Saturday. With Bowman gone, the plan will be for Foster to eventually take over the "Mike" spot.
However, the starting linebackers today will be Brock Coyle in the ‘Mike’ spot and Ray-Ray Armstrong in the weak-side position with Elijah Lee and Mark Nzeocha will backing them up.
Foster played 11 snaps in Week 1 before suffering a high-ankle sprain while trying to tackle Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey.
