49ers pregame: No Dial, Lynch vs. Dolphins rushing attack

MIAMI GARDENS -- Torrey Smith is active for today’s game against the Dolphins but defensive lineman Quinton Dial is not.

That’s bad news for San Francisco’s beleaguered defense, especially consider the Dolphins are likely to lean heavily on second-year running back Jay Ajayi, who is averaging 89.1 yards per game this season. The 49ers, meanwhile, have given up 100-yard games to all but two tailback opponents and are averaging an NFL-worst 179.5 rushing yards per game this season.

In addition, outside linebacker Aaron Lynch will miss his third straight contest with a high-ankle sprain. Eli Harold will start for Lynch while Tony Jerod-Eddie will start for Dial.
