It might have seemed like a foregone conclusion, but San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin‘s 2019 campaign is now over.
According to a report from ESPN’s Field Yates on Tuesday, the Niners are placing the 29-year-old veteran on season-ending injured reserve.
Goodwin had been dealing with chronic knee and ankle pain, as head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday, so the IR designation isn’t exactly a major shock. Especially at this time of year, when there are only three regular-season games left on the schedule.
But the 49ers are close to clinching a playoff berth, made all the more likely by their Week 14 win over the New Orleans Saints.
