Context might be the reason why the San Francisco 49ers made a notable roster move on Friday, placing wide receiver Trent Taylor on injured reserve, then adding offensive tackle Sam Young on a one-year deal.
Taylor suffered a Jones fracture in his foot during the preseason. And while the early prognosis had him returning sometime shortly after San Francisco’s bye in Week 4, the situation head coach Kyle Shanahan and Co. have to deal with right now mandates a different move.
Taylor would be eligible to return after eight weeks, as his IR placement would have a designation to return.
