Jeff Wilson Jr. was having a career game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, but he left in the third quarter with what appeared to be a serious injury.
The 24-year-old running back, thrust into a starting role because fellow running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman are already out with their own injuries, had 112 yards on the ground versus the Pats on just 17 carries — a 6.6 yards-per-carry ratio. Even more impressive, he scored three touchdowns, one in each quarter he played. As CBS announcer Jim Nantz noted, it's the first time a 49ers running back put together three touchdowns during a road game since Roger Craig in 1988.
