49ers on hand for supplemental draft prospect's workout

The 49ers were one of 26 teams on hand in Blacksburg, Va. this morning to watch Adonis Alexander, a 6-2 cornerback who will be available in the supplemental draft, work out.

Alexander was ruled academically ineligible for the upcoming season at Virginia Tech, prompting him to join the supplemental draft on July 11. Alexander had seven interceptions in three seasons with the Hokies and is seen as the sort of big, press-coverage cornerback teams like the 49ers and Seahawks desire.

However, he's had some missteps along the way, including a 2016 arrest for marijuana possession and a two-game suspension last season for violating team rules.
