San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has fought through an onslaught of uncalled penalties to sack quarterbacks over the years. But Monday night brought a new one, even for Bosa: a chokehold from Jets offensive tackle Tyron Smith.
With 5:34 left in the second quarter, the Jets had third-and-5 from their own 35-yard line when Bosa rushed Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In the middle of a spin move, Smith put his arms around Bosa’s head, effectively getting Bosa locked up around his neck.
Bosa’s pass rush still put Rodgers under pressure, leading to a throwaway and a three-and-out.
