SANTA CLARA – Fred Warner’s rookie debut, as phenomenal as it was, came with teaching points. Inside the 49ers meeting room, as film flashed of Sunday’s 24-16 loss at Minnesota, a key voice offered Warner advice.
It was the voice that Warner will hear next to him on the field for years to come. It was Reuben Foster’s.
Foster is finishing out his two-game suspension this week, and while the NFL is allowing Foster limited access to the team for his personal benefit, Warner is also benefiting from his future wingman.
“He’s for sure been there along the way, cheering me on,” Warner said.
