On Monday morning, the San Francisco 49ers made the addition of offensive tackle Ryan Pope official. This was rumored to happen on Sunday when the team signed nine players to their practice squad.
Pope (6-foot-7, 313 pounds) originally signed with the Detroit Lions as a rookie free agent on May 10, 2019, out of San Diego State University. He was waived by the Lions on August 30. A 22-year-old native of Lakewood, CA, Pope appeared in 38 games (24 starts) along the offensive line for the Aztecs. As a senior in 2018, he started all 13 games and earned Second-Team All-Mountain West honors.
