ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – The 49ers’ top two outside linebackers will not be on the practice field when the team goes up against the Denver Broncos on Thursday morning and in Saturday night's exhibition game.
Aldon Smth was released three weeks ago following his arrested on Aug. 6 in Santa Clara for alleged hit and run, DUI and vandalism. And Ahmad Brooks is in limbo with the 49ers after he was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery on Wednesday, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office announced.
The 49ers are down to five available outside linebackers, including Aaron Lynch, a second-year player who started three games as a rookie last season and tied with Brooks for the team-lead with six sacks.
