Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who fought through a pair of personal tragedies to have the best season of his career, was selected by his 49er teammates Monday as the winner of this season’s Len Eshmont Award.
According to a statement from the team, the Eshmont — named after the former 49er who died in 1957 — is “given to the 49er who best exemplifies the inspirational and courageous play of Len Eshmont.” Previous winners have included Colin Kaepernick, Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin, Justin Smith and Bryant Young.
Goodwin, 27, and his wife, Morgan, had to deliver their stillborn son at 19 weeks because of complications early in the morning of Nov.
