49ers LB Kwon Alexander out for the season with torn pectoral muscle injury

The San Francisco 49ers will be forced to finish the remainder of the 2019 NFL season without one of their star players after linebacker Kwon Alexander sustained a torn pectoral muscle during the team’s Thursday Night Football victory against the Arizona Cardinals last night.

Alexander was scheduled to undergo an MRI earlier this morning in order to reveal the extent of the injury.

Soon after the test, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the MRI confirmed Alexander tore his pectoral muscle. The injury will keep the Niners’ splash offseason acquisition off the playing field for the team for the rest of the year:

Alexander’s injury is a devastating blow for the 49ers, as the young linebacker quickly became a leader on the team’s defense both on the field and in the locker room.
