49ers' Kyle Shanahan hands offensive reins to fellow nepo baby

In a display of nepo baby solidarity, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gave up play-calling duties in a regular-season game for the first time in his head coaching career and handed them over to offensive assistant Klay Kubiak.

It wasn’t a complete first for Shanahan and Kubiak. The Niners head coach made a similar move at the end of the preseason, with many of the team’s starters having the night off in a 17-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans where the offense picked up 286 yards. Kubiak did better Sunday, with the offense racking up 436 yards of offense, but the game’s final result was still a loss, 47-24 against the Cardinals.
