Before Colin Kaepernick spoke to reporters Sunday about “police brutality” he appeared to make a silent statement with his socks.
On Aug. 10, during the 49ers’ only public practice of training camp at Kezar Stadium, Kaepernick sported socks that featured pigs wearing a police officer’s hat. It’s not known if it was the only time Kaepernick has worn the socks this summer.
On Sunday, as he explained his decision to sit during the national anthem during the 49ers’ first three preseason games, Kaepernick cited the killings of black people by white police officers as an issue that had inspired his stance.
