49ers’ Kaepernick joined by Reid in not standing for national anthem

SAN DIEGO - Colin Kaepernick was joined by safety Eric Reid in not standing for the national anthem before the 49ers’ preseason finale tonight at Qualcomm Stadium.

Reid, who was not in uniform, appeared to kneel next to Kaepernick just before Petty Officer 1st Class Steve Powell from the U.S. Navy sang the anthem on the Chargers’ 28th annual “Salute to the Military Night.” After the anthem was over, Kaepernick and Reid stood up and exchanged a hug.

It’s not known if Reid joined Kaepernick in not standing during the 49ers’ first three preseason games.
