SANTA CLARA -- Before practice began Sunday, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was having a conversation with Dr. Harry Edwards, a team consultant and noted African-American sociologist and activist.
A team spokesman said Edwards, who has a lengthy history of being involved in civil rights causes and demonstrations, would not be available for comment.Kaepernick, however, during a media session which lasted nearly 20 minutes, addressed Edwards and his role in his decision to sit for the national anthem and then speak out on what he perceives to be social injustices in the country.Edwards apparently wasn't involved directly with Kaepernick's decision, but the two have had discussions about the quarterback's feelings.
