49ers John Lynch crows about McKinnon, Richburg

SANTA CLARA — Free agency opened Wednesday with 49ers general manager John Lynch extolling the virtues of their newest offensive players, running back Jerick McKinnon and offensive lineman Weston Richburg.

Simply put, Lynch sees both additions as ideal fits for coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense, which solved its biggest personnel dilemma last month with the re-signing of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

“We see Weston as one of the top young interior offensive linemen in the NFL,” Lynch said in a statement. “His athleticism, intelligence and attitude are a perfect fit for our scheme.”

Lynch gave no indication whether Richburg will supplant center Daniel Kilgore or vie for either guard position.
