MINNEAPOLIS - The perfect quarterback was decidedly imperfect Sunday.
And Jimmy Garoppolo had plenty of company.
Thanks to a laundry list of offensive miscues that include three interceptions by Garoppolo, a series of critical drops, a lost fumble at the 1-yard line and some serious red-zone sputtering, the 49ers lost their season opener 24-16 to the Vikings at raucous U.S. Bank Stadium.
As a result, Garoppolo fell to 7-1 as an NFL starter, losing for the first time since Dec. 13, 2013, when Eastern Illinois fell to Towson State. Garoppolo completed 15 of 33 passes for 261 yards with a touchdown and his trifecta of picks produced a career-worst 45.
