49ers Jimmie Ward breaks collarbone, Nick Bosa has low-grade strain

SANTA CLARA — Jimmie Ward’s latest entry to his injury-plagued 49ers tenure — a broken collarbone. Again.

Ward, the projected starter at free safety, will miss the remaining three weeks of the offseason program after fracturing his collarbone Thursday, the 49ers confirmed.

Also expected out until training camp in late July is rookie defensive end Nick Bosa, the 49ers’ top draft pick who sustained what the team called a Grade 1 hamstring strain Tuesday.

San Francisco 49ers’ Richard Sherman (25) walks off the field with San Francisco 49ers’ Jimmie Ward (20) after a fourth down play against the Detroit Lions late in the fourth quarter at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
