San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan opened his post-practice press conference with unfortunate injury news. Defensive tackle Kalia Davis suffered a knee injury and will need surgery.
“He’ll be back sometime...halfway through the year.” When Shanahan was asked about the specifics of Davis’s injury, he replied, “I don’t know exactly what it was, but it was some stuff behind his kneecap.”
After re-watching the defense, I saw that Davis settled in nicely after the first play from scrimmage and was the most productive 49ers defensive lineman. Shanahan thought that Davis played so well that it was surprising to hear about the severity of Davis’s injury:
“I thought it was one of his best games.
