49ers Injury News: Linebacker Shayne Skov Lands on IR, Safety Marcus Ball Promoted

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Shayne Skov suffered a knee injury during the team’s 31-24 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 12, and he will be out for the rest of the season and lands on injured reserve.

The Niners announced the move on Tuesday morning, via the team’s website.

Skov, an undrafted free agent out of Stanford, has primarily appeared on special teams for San Francisco over the last two years. He appeared in nine games this season, logging two assists, before the injury.

To fill the open roster spot, the Niners promoted defensive back Marcus Ball from the practice squad.
