SANTA CLARA — Linebacker Kwon Alexander made his practice return to the 49ers defense Thursday, but, in a more pressing matter, defensive end Dee Ford did not.
Alexander, out since an Oct. 31 pectoral tear, remains a long shot to suit up for a playoff game until at least the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 19, if the 49ers advance past their Jan. 11 divisional-round game.
