49ers 'hope' Brock Purdy will be healthy for training camp as starter

Purdy underwent elbow surgery earlier this month, and the initial assessment was that he’d be able to start throwing again in three months, and be fully ready by the time Week 1 rolls around. The team still expects Purdy to start throwing again in 12 weeks, but this new timetable moves the quarterback’s return up a bit. (The party line had long been six months; after a March 10 surgery, that would have had him missing camp.)

Less surprisingly, Lynch said that a healthy Purdy is the presumptive starter.

“I think Brock has probably earned the right with the way he played, that he’s probably the leader in the clubhouse with that,” Lynch said.
